Learning for this week

This week I learnt how to write an informational writing. Informational writing is when you write about a certain subject, you have to inform people about what you're writing about and be specific. For example if you are writing about a sport, you can write about the history of sports and then carry on to a certain sport. When you write about the one sport you can talk about the rules and histories of it. So that is what I learnt in writing this week.

Culture - Tonga

The first king of  Tonga was George Tupou I, he became the king on the 4th of  November 1875. He  died on the 18th of  February 1893. The next king was George Tupou II , he was the double great grandson of George Tupou I. George Tupou II  became king on the 18th of February 1893. He died on the  5th of  April 1918. Then was the first queen , Salote Tupou III, the daughter of George Tupou II. She became the Queen on the 5th of April  1918, she then died on the 16th of December 1918. The next king was Taufa’ahau Tupou IV, he was the son of Salote Tupou III. He became king on the 16th of December 1965. He then died on the 10th of september 2006. Another king in the old days was George Tupou V, he was the son of Taufa’ahau Tupou IV. He became the king on the 11th of September 2006. He then died on the 18th of March 2012. The king of Tonga now is king Tupou VI, he is also the son of Taufa’ahau Tupou IV. He became king on the 18th of March 2012, and he is still the king until now. The Queen of Tonga now is Queen Nanasipau’u, she is the wife of King Tupou IV. She had also became queen on the 18th of March 2012, up until now she is still the queen. The princess of Tonga now is Princess Latufuipeka Tuku’aho, and she is the daughter of the king and queen. She had also became the princess on the 18th of March 2012. Now, I wrote this about all the history of the royals of Tonga.

Tonga, Tonga is a polynesian kingdom made up of 176 south pacific islands and only 40 are inhabited, there are 4 main island groups, Tongatapu, Ha’apai, Vava’u and ‘Eua. Tongatapu island is the ‘’sacred south’’ . It is north across Nuku’alofa ( the capital of Tonga ). 70,000 people live in Tongatapu and Nuku’alofa. On sundays the churches in Tongatapu glow with beautiful harmonies and welcoming people. Ha’apai island, it has 62 islands, atolls, reefs and shoals of the central island of Ha’apai. Vava’u island ( best island ) , has 61 different islands that have coral gardens, deserted beaches and glowing clear lagoons. Underwater, Vava’u has the visibility of up to 30 meters of sea caves and history laden shipwrecks, and they also have plenty of snorkelling places. Some other extra things to be done there would be  jet kayaking, sea kayaking and kiteboarding. ‘Eua is actually the best place for travellers to go and have an amazing adventure. ‘Eua is actually the oldest island in the kingdom, a tongan legend is said the polynesian god, Maui stood when he fished up the islands of Tongatapu, Vava’u and Ha’apai from the deep pacific ocean. There is a place named ‘Eua national park where you can explore with locals and learn about the tongan history and culture. You can even explore the cliffs, caves and sinkholes in  the north of ‘Eua. ‘Eua also has the biggest underwater caves out of the pacific that is nearly as deep as 30 meters. Now this was all about the islands of Tonga.

Now this is my informational writing about Tonga.

Reflection for reading this week

For learning this week I learnt about finding out the main ideas in a story. I think I should work on maybe working on something more challenging tasks so I can learn from it. I also think I should work on staying on task in class so I can complete my tasks on time.
I think overall reading this week was really good for me.

This is a screenshot of me selecting what the main ideas were in the text.

Write a moment in time story about the experience shown in the video. You must write in first person tense. Remember to use the vocab you have in your chart above.

Begin here: I am at the starting line of the race track and i’m feeling ecstatic to drive. Before I speed off, I see people taking videos and photographs of me getting ready to go. The engine starts and I speed off as swiftly as flash. I reach the first turn and I maneuver, I hear a screeching sound coming from the tyres.

I suddenly perceive that i’m starting to taste my outrageous sweat dripping down. During my ongoing driving, I can smell the foul, polluted air and smoke coming from the exhaustion pipe on the car. I’m now feeling relieved because I finally reach the end, and I can now watch the footage of me driving critically. I can now smell a good fresh air. I hear people clapping and praising me for a fantastic drive.

Today our class had to watch 360 videos and I picked the car racing one. So basically what we had to do was, write a descriptive writing about this video using first person tense. I felt excited about doing this because I wanted to act as if I was the driver.Well that is it I hope you guys learn something from my blog post for today.
